Calling All Writers – Notes & Words Essay Contest
I received this invitation in the Comments section of my About page, alerting me to a great writing contest. Although it means more competition for me (let’s face it — we’re all striving to get published, right?), I just had to share. Check out their essay contest page and consider entering. And, if you win over me, consider letting me tag along, will ya?
…Notes & Words is sponsoring an essay contest. We are looking for short stories about the challenges of caring for a child (age 18 or younger), including medical issues (e.g., an accident, illness or diagnosis) or emotional crises (e.g., a death, divorce, breakdown) or one of any one of the more common parenting dramas (e.g., academic, social, athletic, epicurean). We welcome both humorous and serious essays of up to 800 words.

Finalists will receive two tickets to Notes & Words performance and after-party on April 28, 2012 at The Fox Theater in Oakland.
Pretty sweet, huh? Now to get writing…
Awesome! Thank you!
Decisions, decisions. Do I do it? Do I not? Do I write something new (oh, the pressure!) or just submit something I’ve already published?
Are you writing something new or using an old favorite?
I got this from the FAQ on the contest website, so I’m writing something new. Good luck!
Q. My piece has been previously published. Will you consider it?
A. No. All entries must be original pieces of work and not be previously published.
Yeah, it’d be helpful if I read the rules, eh?
Thank you!
